Seven Good Reasons for a Summertime Job Search For anyone considering a job shift, or currently seeking employment, there are some compelling reasons not to take the summer off. Dropping out of the market for two or three months leaves you out of the flowâ"and out of the running when new opportunities arise. Keep in mind that the slow-down of the summer holidays affects business, but not necessarily the hiring cycle. Even six years after the end of the Great Recession, the job climate continues to rebound. Companies remain in fluxâ"and layoffs such as those recently announced by Microsoft continueâ"but job creation continues as well.
